Key messaging
Information on crop issues: Georgia’s crops face significant challenges from plant diseases, pests and freeze events, all of which can severely impact yields and profits. Plant diseases, such as fungal blights or bacterial infections, can weaken crops, reduce quality and spread rapidly if not managed effectively. Pests like aphids, beetles and invasive species not only damage plants directly, but they can also serve as vectors for disease. Freeze events add another layer of risk, as sudden temperature drops can cause irreversible damage to delicate plants like fruits, vegetables and early-stage row crops.
