🌊 After a flood or hurricane, your well water may be contaminated with black water. During severe weather, rising floodwaters can overwhelm sewage systems, cause septic tanks to overflow, and mix with chemicals, animal waste and debris. This contaminated water can seep into private wells, making it unsafe to drink, cook with, or bathe in. 🚨 Black water carries dangerous pathogens like E. coli, norovirus and hepatitis A, along with toxic chemicals from flooded areas. If your well has been flooded, assume it’s unsafe. Learn how to test, disinfect, and restore your water supply at the link in our bio.
